2016 is history as we are already a few days into the new year. There were usual musings about time just flying away or “the year had just begun , how could it be over so soon”. This is where a little instrospection helps. Recollecting what all went on in the year can make you realise that somethings did happen. A practice, as many life coaches would preach, that should be a ritual for anyone to start a fresh year with a much better perspective.

For us 2016 had begun with a fabulous trip to Uttarakhand. We experienced the  most serene new year’s morning ever as the sun rose from beyond the mountains. We had spent three days going around and visiting the lakes of Kumaon – Bhimtal, Nainital, Sattal, Naukuchiyataal. It was such a wonderful week, I have no doubt now that if you  have only one place to go to in the entire year then that should be somewhere amonsgt the Himalayas. Now on our to do list is to go further, explore Uttarakhand even more. For starters Almora and Binsar is what we would want to cover (.Kumaon Diaries: Around Nainital)

Just when monsoons were at their peak we had spent a weekend in Igatpuri, a small hill station in Sahyadris, near Nasik. We had spent a day exploring the rustic environs of Bhandardara, yet to be corrupted by commercialism.During monsoons there are very few places prettier than the Sahyadris, everything till the horizon gets covered in green with dense clouds hovering over.(Beautiful Bhandardara)

We also had a short visit to Bodh Gaya, my fist ever visit to the state of Bihar.I am yet to write about it, thanks to the procastinating mind but the complex in Gaya is worth spending time to say the least.

When we were not travelling we tried to explore more within Delhi. I, along with one of Delhi’s heritage walk groups went to Mehrauli Archaelogical Park. A humble space which has as mush history confined within it as its more illustrious neghbour – the Qutub Minar.

We managed to get a glimpse of the festive spirits in CR Park during Durga Puja , something which has been on our mind since we had moved to Guragaon.(Shubo Durga Puja at CR Park Delhi)

We celebrated our daughter’s first birthday, a day which will always be memorable.I finally got to upgrade my car, managed to loose a few kgs and nearly completed my reading challenge on Goodreads. So there is a lot to be thankful for in 2016. Happiness, as they say, is in simple moments of joy, for there may never be a big bang.

In 2017 I would just go by what Pepsi once said ” Yeh Dil Maange More”. I would want to shed all my lethargy and plan more travels, within the city or outside doesn’t really matter. More roadtrips with more memories with my family would be just the way to go. I would get the monkey named procastination off my back, a reason why I am yet to write about quite a few experiences.

And above all I would try to make every day count !

Happy New Year 2017 .
