There is probably an invisible barrier which prevents the rain to cross over from Delhi to Gurgaon. In the few years we have been residing here there have been so many instances when others in our family Whatsapp group have shared messages of how rains were making there part of NCR pleasant while we stared at the sky like Bhuvan’s troops,  in anticipation. So many times we have seen dense dark clouds hover over for not a single drop to precipitate on this holy land of pubs. When it comes to monsoons Gurgaon seem to be one of those small stations which are not on the list of halts of the top express trains.

So we were surprised and quite pleasantly at that when the generosity of the rain god  was at its best on the weekend just after the Independence Day. It had been raining and quite diligently without letting up for hours. The temperature had dipped and the troublesome humidity which normally follows a burst of rain here was not there at all. To make the most of this rare occasion we thought of going to a place which can thoroughly complement the weather and my wife came up with this new place called Hamoni Cafe by The Greens. The place looked pretty in pictures and was supposedly next to a expansive green gardens so we decided to check it out for breakfast. It is located off the Old Delhi- Gurgaon road and the approach may confuse as you go right through a hub of trucking and auto workshops. However a direction board assured that we were on the right path and soon we entered the gate of this cafe. We then realised that the Greens in their name actually meant a golf green. While we parked our vehicle in a packed lot, one after the other people kept getting out of their vehicles, with their gear and heading purposefully towards what was actually a driving range. The cafe was situated right against this driving range where the regulars, I believe, were practicing their swing. What a wonderful world we thought .

The cafe itself was a small but cosy place with its big windows giving you a proper view of the action outside. It was definitely a place where you would love to have your breakfast. The menu was good with both Indian and Continental options however only a part of it was available at breakfast – their All Day Breakfast Menu. It was however sufficient for a satisfying meal to begin your day with, unless you want something really elaborate. However it was the overall ambiance with a lovely weather that made the outing very comfortable. Once our meal was done we rented TT bats and played for a while while our daughter enjoyed in the garden with swings. Before we had realised a good two hours had gone by in this oasis of green !

It was a good find for us and worth a visit especially now that the winter is coming !
